Localization Project Manager

I. Primary responsibilities

  • Manage localization projects
  • Develop project strategies (project kits, project plans, project teams)
  • Track project progress in terms of time, quality, and cost
  • Screen and evaluate new linguistic resources
  • Assign, instruct, train, support, and supervise localization teams
  • Interact with all project stake holders (client, technical staff, linguists)
  • Manage terminology (glossaries, style guides, etc.)
  • Help in training new or junior in-house linguists, coordinators, PMs

II. Education and experience

  • A Bachelor's degree in translation, business, or related field
  • Between 1-5 years of experience directly related to project management (preferably in the localization industry)

III. Knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • Knowledge of one foreign languages at native level
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Organization and leadership skills
  • Proven skills in project planning, resource and risk management
  • Problem-solving capabilities
  • Quality- and detail-oriented
  • Strong team player in a multi-language/multi-cultural environment
  • Self-starting, pro-active attitude
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines under pressure
  • Proficiency in word processing, project management, and communication tools
  • Interest in new technologies and new tools
  • Proficiency in translation memory tools (Trados, SDLX) are a definite plus!
