Subtitles & Captions
The two big advantages of subtitled videos are cost and speed. Subtitled videos do not require expensive voice-over talent, studios and post-recording processing, so expenses are kept low, often just a fraction of the cost of a fully localized video.
While savings are substantial, the problem is that subtitles are a somewhat disruptive video experience. Your target audience will have to read the bottom of the screen to grasp the meaning of the content you spent so much effort putting together, instead of looking at the powerful onscreen images.
Nonetheless, some videos are more suitable than others for subtitling. Videos showing primarily people talking, like interviews or speeches, and technical training videos are excellent candidates for subtitling.
HighTech Passport provides subtitling services using in-country specialized linguists, and state-of-the-art tools, to translate and render your videos.
Our technical staff includes experts in video production tools, who can handle all current subtitling file formats, such as SRT, SBV, SSA, as well as other open or closed captioning formats.
We also offer industry-specific quality control to overcome the constraints of subtitling (i.e. limited space, shorter text, readability, removal of useless or redundant contents, etc.) to make sure your localized subtitles are clear, consistent, and culturally appropriate.
